Dr. Askew

Dr. Angela Askew steps into the role of Principal at Peabody Elementary School, bringing more than 25 years of experience as a transformative educator and school leader. Her career reflects a deep commitment to equity, instructional excellence, and student success across Memphis-Shelby County Schools.  

Most recently, Dr. Askew served as Dean of Students at Northaven Elementary, where she supported student achievement, culture-building, and teacher development. She previously served as Senior STEM Manager for MSCS’ College, Career, and Technical Education division and worked with the Tennessee Department of Education as a STEM contractor, mentoring educators and advancing computer science instruction. Her earlier principalships earned multiple Reward School distinctions and a Tennessee STEM Designation, underscoring her results-driven leadership.  

A proud graduate of the University of Memphis, Dr. Askew holds a Doctor of Education in Leadership and Policy Studies, along with advanced degrees and certifications in Curriculum and Instruction and Administration/Supervision. At Peabody Elementary, she is focused on creating a joyful, high-performing school community where all students can thrive.

Ms. Monifa Roberts proudly serves as the PLC Coach at Peabody Elementary School, bringing over 27 years of dedication to education and instructional growth. Her journey includes two decades as a classroom teacher before transitioning into leadership roles as an ELA Advisor in the district’s Professional Learning and Support department and later as an Interventionist and PLC Coach at Hanley. Each role has deepened her commitment to fostering teacher collaboration, student success, and instructional excellence.

A proud alumna of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, Ms. Roberts holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Education. She continued her professional growth by earning a second Master’s in Technology and an Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership at Arkansas State University, culminating in her Tennessee Instructional Leadership License in Administration.

Driven by a passion for continuous improvement and a belief in the power of teamwork, Ms. Roberts strives to build strong professional learning communities where teachers feel supported, students are challenged, and learning thrives. Her career is a reflection of purpose, perseverance, and a steadfast dedication to making a lasting impact in every classroom she touches.
